Jason L. Yearout

Jason joined Rubio Law Firm in October 2021 after years of working closely with Freddy Rubio and Leslie Wright Rubio. Since joining the firm, Jason has been working tirelessly, settling and trying cases, obtaining verdicts, and successfully winning appealsfor his clients in both Alabama and before the Eleventh Circuit (federal appeals court for Alabama, Georgia, and Florida). 

Jason Yearout began his legal career in the courtroom and has remained a trial lawyer since 1999. He has represented individuals, businesses, blue-collar workers, and families in a broad array of cases, including contract disputes, wrongful death, dram shop (liquor liability), and Fair Labor Standards (FLSA). He prepares every case for trial because that is how results are maximized. His persistence and perseverance overwhelm opposing counsel and benefit his clients.

Jason graduated from Cumberland School of Law (Samford University). While there, he was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and published a Student Note on the appropriate measure of damages for fear of future harm in toxic tort litigation. He competed in moot court, trial advocacy, and advanced trial skills. Jason was also on the Dean’s List for academic achievement and received a Cali Award and Scholar of Merit Award (top grade) in Wills, Estates, and Trusts and Property II. Jason is licensed to practice law in Alabama, Maryland, and Nevada.

Jason worked in Washington, D.C. as a legislative assistant for Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who at the time was the minority whip. Jason primarily focused on veteran’s affairs and mental health. At Yearout & Traylor, he cut his teeth with his father, Gusty Yearout, where he learned valuable skills as a trial lawyer, the importance of keeping your word, and the principle of trust but verify. Gusty always taught his lawyers, when analyzing the evidence, that “coincidences take lots of planning”. These principles guide Jason in his practice by drilling into a fact, issue, or piece of evidence with critical analysis so that the truth is revealed, having appropriate perspective, and always putting the interest of the client ahead of his personal interest.

Jason has tried dozens of civil jury trials in both state and federal court and has

represented clients in Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Nevada, Costa Rica, and others. He has also orally argued cases to the Alabama Supreme Court, Michigan Court of Appeals, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His trial experience, areas of practice, and appellate work highlight the broad skill set he implements to effectively represent his clients and obtain the most favorable results possible.

Jason grew up in Alabama and married Lauren, a Vegas girl, in 1998. They have one daughter, Zoë. Lauren is a professor at the University of Alabama and teaches criminal justice. Jason grew up playing sports and continues to regularly engage in sports activities, including Ultimate Frisbee where he plays local leagues, regionally, and occasionally nationally. Jason is also a Certified Observer for the sport of Ultimate and serves on the board of BUYA, a youth ultimate league and InToto. Jason is also a fan of all things Auburn.
