Leslie W. Rubio

Leslie is the managing partner at the firm and focuses her practice on serious injury, wrongful death and Dram Shop (drunk drivers). Leslie graduated Cum Laude from the University of Montevallo with a degree in Elementary Education and earned a Juris Doctor at Birmingham School of Law.

Leslie successfully assisted in the appellate brief writing process achieving a grant of writ of certiorari from the Alabama Supreme Court. She co-authored the brief on appeal and received a favorable unanimous decision from the Alabama Supreme Court in the case of Ex parte Wood, No. 1090877 (Ala. Oct. 29, 2010). This case concerned a retaliatory discharge claim that arose after an employee filed a workers’ compensation claim and was subsequently terminated.

Leslie is active in the Birmingham Bar Association and has served on the Board of the Solo/Small Firm section since 2012 and currently serves as the Chair of the Section. She is a member of the Women’s Section and is an active volunteer on the Entertainment Committee and Nominations Commitee. She served on the Executive Committee from 2019 to 2021 and currently serves on the Board of the Birmingham Bar Foundation. Leslie is Board member of the Alabama Association for Justice and a member of American Association for Justice and graduated from the AAJ Leadership Academy.

Leslie learned at young age how attorneys can help people and bring profound change to a person’s life. She was 13 when she experienced the loss of her father after a tragic work accident. The attorney who handled her father’s case achieved the highest workers’ compensation settlement in the history of the state (at the time) which helped provide stability to her family. It wasn’t until she started working at a law firm after graduating from college, that she fully understood the dedication and passion to fight for justice that Plaintiffs’ attorneys have for their clients and was inspired to learn how to do that for others.

While Leslie was born in Nashville, she considers Birmingham home after living here for over 20 years. Leslie is married to Freddy Rubio and together they share a passion for running, travel, spending time with family, cooking and wine and have completed numerous half marathons.
