Sara has excellent customer service skills that she acquired in the server/hospitality industry. Those skills enhance her ability to understand the needs and expectation of those she helps. She works with all types of people which helps set her apart from others and explains how she cares for Rubio Law Firm clients and is able to identify their needs and finds solutions for them, including those that are injured, without a car, unable to work, or grieving the loss a loved one. As an immigrant, she appreciates and understands the difficulties faced by similar individuals or families and can help them understand the complex American legal process. She is Rubio Law Firm’s MacGyver and fosters a healthy relationship with our clients. She often bridges the concerns and questions of our clients with the answers and solutions of our lawyers.
Sara joined the firm in 2017 as a legal assistant. She serves as a general support to the practice, including all aspects of trial preparation and litigation support, including trial notebooks, exhibits notebooks, and coordination of witnesses. She has significant experience in the day-to-day operations of the firm including gathering and summarizing medical records, interpreting and translating (Spanish), updating and maintaining files, screening and interviewing clients, preparing and responding to discovery, assisting the clients and lawyers with depositions and mediations preparation, performing administrative support tasks such electronic filing (motions, subpoenas and legal documents). Sara is also instrumental in assisting attorneys with appeals, preparing the record on appeal, and finalizing and filing the briefs, which includes the Alabama appellate courts and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Sara is also a licensed real estate agent and was part of Voltage, Innovation Depot’s programs as an entrepreneur bringing innovative ideas to the marketplace in Birmingham creating a software program for law firms to help obtain medical records. Working for Rubio Law Firm, Sara recognized a pressing need in the legal landscape for a centralized and efficient medical records retrieval system. As an early adopter in this innovative approach, she sought to streamline the process for law firms, saving them valuable time and resources.
Sara was born and raised in Colombia, where she earned a technical degree in Computer Systems. She also has a background in early childhood education and holds a Paralegal Certificate from Jefferson State Community College. Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and cooking traditional Colombian recipes.
